⚠️ Important: To text from FUB, your business needs to be registered and approved by US mobile carriers. You can still receive texts in Follow Up Boss. Calling and emailing are not impacted.
1. Website Opt-In Language
Before completing the Business Registration form, confirm that you have opt-in language on the primary contact form of your website. When your Business Registration is submitted, carriers verify that contacts are opting in to text communication and know how to opt-out. Note: BoomTown, CINC, Luxury Presence, RealGeeks, Sierra Interactive, and Ylopo web forms already meet the requirements for opt-in consent.
Sample opt-in statement:
"I agree to be contacted by [Your Business Name] via call, email, and text. To opt out, you can reply 'stop' at any time or click the unsubscribe link in the emails. Message and data rates may apply. [Link to Privacy Policy]"
2. Privacy Policy
Your privacy policy must state that you do not sell phone numbers. To meet requirements, we recommend adding the statement, "Data will not be sold or shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes." Here is more information on how to create a privacy policy and what should be included.
3. Employer Identification Number (EIN)
If you are the owner of your FUB account, you will need to have an EIN. Already have your own EIN? Great! Continue to step 4. If you need an EIN, here is how to complete the EIN Application.
4. Register your FUB Numbers
The Business Registration can be completed by owner and admin roles. The form only needs to be completed once, as it covers all team members. Complete the form with the exact business information listed on your EIN.

Texting with a 10-digit long (10DLC) phone number was originally designed for person-to-person (P2P) communication. P2P texts have low volume and lack necessary security measures, resulting in many spam texts being sent. Phone carriers consider P2P texting to be an unsanctioned route for business texts. For this reason, messages are often subject to blocking and throttling.
Verizon was the first US carrier to introduce application-to-person (A2P) messaging for businesses in 2019. As demand for high-volume business texting increased, other carriers, including AT&T and T-Mobile, launched versions of A2P in 2021.
We refer to "A2P 10DLC" as "Business Registration" on Follow Up Boss, and we use the information you provide in your Business Registration form to complete A2P 10DLC for you.
No. When you add another number to your Follow Up Boss account (a new Team Inbox number or a number for a new agent, for example), your business profile information will be used to register that new number automatically.
Every phone number needs to be registered with a business. Choose one of the businesses to register all numbers on your account under. In the future, we may have a way to separate registrations within an account, but as of today, there is one registration per account.
You only need to register if you are sending text messages to numbers in the US.
