Businesses in Canada need to register their FUB numbers if they are sending text messages to numbers in the United States. To complete the Business Registration, your Business Number (BN) will be used.
1. Website Opt-In Language
Before completing the Business Registration form, confirm that you have opt-in language on the primary contact form of your website. When your Business Registration is submitted, carriers verify that contacts are opting in to text communication and know how to opt out. To learn more about these requirements, check out How to Obtain Proper Opt-In Consent on your Website.
Note: BoomTown, CINC, Luxury Presence, RealGeeks, Sierra Interactive, and Ylopo web forms already meet the requirements for opt-in consent.
Sample opt-in statement:
"I agree to be contacted by [Your Business Name] via call, email, and text. To opt-out, you can reply 'stop' at any time or click the unsubscribe link in the emails. Message and data rates may apply. [Link to Privacy Policy]"
2. Business Number (BN)
If you are the owner of your FUB account, you will need to have your own BN (not your brokerage's). Already have your own BN? Great! Continue to step 3. If you need a BN, here is how to complete the BN Application.
