Tags allow you a flexible way to categorize and filter your contacts. Unlike stages, a contact may have multiple tags!
How it Works
Adding Tags to a Lead Profile
1. Navigate to a Lead Profile
2. Go to the Details section on the left-hand side > Add Tag
Note: If tags are listed, click the blue + button next to the tags.
3. Search or Select the desired tag > Save Tags
4. If you are Creating a New Tag, Type in the new tag within the search bar > Create New Tag > Save Tags
Note: Tags have a 64-character limit within Follow Up Boss.
Mass Applying or Removing Tags
1. Go to People > Filter to the desired contacts
2. Select Individual Contacts or Select All
2. Click the Tag Icon > Add/Remove Tags
3. Search or Select the tag > Add/Remove Tags
Filtering by Tags
1. Go to People > All People > Filters
Note: If filters appear, click Clear Filters to start a new search.
2. Search or Select Tags
3. Select a Filtering Option > Click the Blue + Button
4. Search and Select the desired tag(s) and the results will automatically appear
Note: Multiple filters can be added to achieve the desired list. For example, if you want to create a list of leads who have the tag Sphere but exclude leads with the Buyer tag, two filters can be added to achieve this list. One filter includes the Sphere tag and another excludes the Buyer tag.
Tag Management
To manage tags, go to Admin > Tags.
Note: The number in the used column can be clicked to view a list of the leads with the tag on the people page.
Searching Tags
Search tags with the search function in the upper right-hand corner.
Order tags A-Z or Z-A by clicking Name in the upper left-hand corner.
Edit Tags
Under actions on the right-hand side, click the Edit Pencil > Make Changes > Update Tag.
Delete Tags
Under actions on the right-hand side, click the Trash > Yes, delete tag.
Note: If all the contacts with a certain tag are in Trash, the tag will show up on this page, but won't be linkable.
Mass Delete Tags
Select multiple tags at once by clicking the check box to the left of the tag name. Then choose the trash can icon next to Clear Selection to delete multiple tags at once.
Note: To select a long list of tags at once, select the first tag then press and hold shift on the keyboard, and then click the last tag. This will select all tags between the two tags clicked.
FAQs
Tags are designed to categorize your contacts for easy filtering. All in all, you want to use tags that make sense for your team. Below is a list of tags that we recommend to get you started.
- Buyer / Seller
- Past Client
- Vendor (can also specify "Photographer" etc.)
- Open House (often labeled with the date or address of the open house so you can follow up with those leads specifically)
- Location tags such as Zip Code or City
- Do Not Call, Do Not Text, or Do Not Email
- Has Agent
- High Value
- Out of Area / Out of State

Hover your mouse over the tag on the lead profile to view who added the tag and when. If the tag was added before June 14, 2021 (the release date of this feature) this information will not show.
